Metal Detectors are an Indispensable Component of every Plastics Recycling System
Sophisticated recycling technologies turn plastic waste into high-quality raw materials

Schönberg, Germany, Friday, March 30, 2012 -- (Business Wire India) -- Since its foundation in the year 1983 EREMA Engineering Recycling Maschinen und Anlagen GmbH in Ansfelden/Austria has specialised in the development and production of plastics recy-cling systems and technologies for the plastics-processing industry, and in these fields the company is a world market and innovation leader. The company's international success is based not only on many patents and on particularly energy-saving and environmentally friendly systems, but also on its high quality demand and its customer orientation. State-of-the-art tech-nology and global service guarantee maximum system utilisation and benefit for all EREMA sys-tem customers. The Austrian group has about 330 employees all over the world. With subsidiar-ies in the USA, China, and Japan, and about 40 agencies on all five continents EREMA realises recycling solutions for individual applications.

The subject of plastics recycling is inseparably linked with matters of resource efficiency and sustainability. Due to the scarcity of raw materials and to increasing efforts to reduce CO2 emis-sions, sustainable economic operations and thus the use of recycling materials are becoming ever more important. Waste plastics and reject materials from the plastics industry can be excel-lently re-used in many production processes, provided that such waste materials are properly processed into high-quality secondary raw materials.

For the profitable returning of recycling materials into the production cycle EREMA provides a wide range of products, e.g. plastics recycling systems for production waste and for heavily soiled post-consumer waste, and PET recycling systems for PET material that is of food quality again (bottle-to-bottle).

For decades EREMA has successfully cooperated with the Bavarian company S+S Separation and Sorting Technology GmbH. S+S supplies metal detectors and separators that are integrated in the feeding conveyor belts or pipelines of the EREMA systems.

When plastic waste and reject parts are reprocessed, the feed material may contain metal parti-cles that must be removed to protect downstream processing machines. S+S metal detectors identify magnetic and non-magnetic metal contaminations, even if they are enclosed in the product, and thus prevent malfunctions in the plastics recycling process that are caused by metal particles. Metal detectors protect comminution machines against damage, increase pro-duction reliability, optimise machine operating times, reduce malfunctions, and thus increase the profitability of the systems.

Says Andreas Dirnberger, EREMA Vice President Sales: "In our EREMA systems S+S metal detectors are used as a pre-treatment stage. We highly appreciate the accuracy and reliability of these S+S metal detectors. Without metal detectors our systems might be damaged, which is why EREMA uses S+S metal detectors to protect the systems. Another important aspect is that the quality of the recycled plastic material essentially depends on the quality of the feed mate-rial."
