Boston India Launch their New Server, Storage, Workstation and Rendering Solutions into the Asian Channel at Broadcast India 2009

Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, Friday, October 30, 2009 -- (Business Wire India) -- Boston Limited, now in its 17th year as a distribution partner for silicon valley based Super Micro Computer, Inc. (NASDAQ: SMCI), today has formally announced a raft of new product launches being showcased at Broadcast India 2009, Mumbai on Thursday 29th of October.

Coinciding with the successful launch of Boston India the unveiling of Boston's new range of server, storage, workstation and rendering solutions introduces the Asian Channel to a comprehensive range of high performance and high value solutions.

"Our continued growth globally has positioned Boston as a pivotal player within the Broadcast and Digital content creation sectors" says Manoj Nayee Managing director. "As broadcast studios are increasingly being put under pressure to adopt the latest performance and power-saving technologies, increased R&D costs and project turn-around times can be significant barriers for those looking to increase their value proposition to their clients".

"Boston is uniquely placed in that we have over 17 years of experience in the build, test and manufacture of high performance solutions to meet clients exact needs. We possess the unique ability to ascertain the exact requirements of a clients needs and are able to turn around a fully bespoke platform with customer branding, documentation and packaging".

Various new technologies targeted towards the Broadcast, CGI and DCC markets will be launched and showcased at the event highlighting the latest developments in storage and compute technologies from Supermicro, nVIDIA, AMD, WD, Intel and LSI amongst many other key industry partners.

Boston will be demonstrating their latest real-time 2K playback workstation that has been designed specifically for film directors wanting to scrub through film footage to make instant decisions with regards to what footage is retained and used for film projects. Housed within a tiny workstation chassis this high performance platform has been designed to be small and portable whilst meeting the high I/O performance demands that 2K playback requires. Also on display will be Boston's 4K playback server which has been designed and optimised to support the high speeds and storage bandwidth needed to display the new 4K mastering standard being used by studios worldwide.

Also at the show will be demonstrations of Boston's latest Boston Venom GPU and CPU based server and workstation platforms that offer stunning levels of computational power by combining the raw processing power offered by today's latest GPU and CPU based technologies with staggering results! As an example Boston's Venom T1000 compute node provides over a staggering Two FLOP's of computational power all within a small 1U enclosure that has been designed to provide ground breaking processing performance.

The rendering market has also been fast to adopt and see the value in Boston's range of Venom Rendering appliances that have been designed to allow CGI artists to offset their processing needs from their workstation onto a dedicated appliance that provides exceptional levels of processing and rendering power. This allows artists to regain their creative control as they do not have to wait for painfully slow localized renders to have been carried out before they can continue with their work. As an example Boston's Quattro 5500GP rendering appliance can achieve a staggering 375 GFLOPS/kW, which is 30% more than other top tiers' x86 systems in the industry today.

Storage is also an area of the market Boston have great expertise in, with a multi award winning range of high availability storage solutions that have been designed to offer blazing storage performance with support for the latest generation of drop in networking and RAID controllers. Unlike many other vendors within the storage arena Boston does not firmware lock our drives or force people to commit to buying their storage in batches at a time; Boston Igloo storage platforms allow users to use standard off the shelf enterprise level disks that can be added singularly to allowing users to regain control of their hardware and purchases. On display at the show Boston will be showcasing our latest Igloo 4U-72T-Stor platform which provides a staggering 72TB of high performance hot swappable storage within a single 4U enclosure.

Boston offers bespoke services for specialist applications which include product design and consultancy, additional services include on-site warranty and financial solutions including leasing.
